Tawang

Tawang is both historically and naturally endowed. It is located in the westernmost part of the state of Arunachal Pradesh at an altitude of 3500 metres above sea level. it is surronded by the natural beauty and solitude of Gudpi and Chong-Chugmi ranges, Tawang chu River and Tawang valley on their own are very mesmerizing.

There are many beautiful grlacial lakes in and around Tawang with crystal blue waters such as Sela lake, P.T.Tso lake, Sangetser lake, Banggachang lake and many more. These remain frozen in winter while in summer they become haven for migratory birds.

Tawang Monastery, is the largest monastery in India and second largest in the world after the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet.

The Sela Pass enroute to Tawang needs a special mention.

Places to visit enroute Tawang are Bomdila and Dirang. One can stay in Dirang valley and take in the picturesque views that it offers.

 

Kaziranga

Kaziranga is situated in the Golaghat and Nagaon district of the state of Assam in India and is a world heritage site.

The national park hosts two-thirds of the world’s Great One-horned rhinoceros and the highest density of tigers among the protected areas in the world. It was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006.

The park is also home to large breeding populations of elephants, wild water buffalo and swamp deer. The means of travel inside the park is on the back of trained elephants with mahout guides, or in Jeep or 4WD vehicles
